Final Film: Through Her Eyes

Here is the final version of our opening film. It is a much better version of our first draft. We took consideration of the feedback or peer gave us and was able to incorporate it into this final film. It was a lot of work, but we push through and was able to get the result we desired. My group and I are very proud of what we have achieved.

First Draft: First Draft Feedback

After filming our first draft of our film, we allowed one of our peers to review it and give us feedback on it. She critiqued our film and provided us with some ideas to consider and what we should change to make it better.

For the opening scene, she commented that there wasn't enough credits and that the font didn’t match the aesthetic of Christine. Our peer included to provide more backstory/exposition and recommended a voiceover of Christine talking about her relationship with Mercedes. She also recommended improving our title slide with expressive visuals and to take out the play video transition. She told us we need a theme song that would match the storyline and to incorporate it during Lizzy’s conversation with Mercedes. She added that the volume needed to be higher during conversations and to add more sound effects. Our peer evaluated our use of colors and said color theory could be improved by adding weird and whimsical colors that challenge conventions. She suggested a yellow filter over the bathroom scene and to incorporate continued consistency when Christine locks Lizzy in the closet. To improve our hook, she also suggested a scene where Mercedes finds Lizzy’s bag with her ringing phone stranded as she is trying to get a hold of her on her cell phone.

I am thankful for our peer for taking the time to analyze our film and to help us find ways to make it better. We will consider all her remarks and comments when finalizing our film.

First Draft

Here is the first draft of our film. There are sure to be mistakes since this is the first, but I believe we did pretty well with it. This first draft is vital for the creation of our final draft as it lets us know what we need to fix.

Post-production: Sound Editing Decisions

In our film opening, we used sound effects like the sound of someone banging on the door, or the sound of hands slamming on the desks. We also used simple dialogue, so that our audience can understand the context behind each scene. Audible editing includes dialouge, sound effects, and music. Sound is very important as it makes the audiences feel engaged and like they're actually a part in the movie. It also helps viewers better understand what is going on in a film.

Post-production: Visual Editing Decisions

In film, editing is the dissection and rearranging of clips to produce a final product that the editors are satisfied with. This covers trimming and stretching clips as well as applying overlays, color, transitions, and other effects. The editing process is an essential aspect of filmmaking since it provides a clear and clean framework that your viewers can easily follow. Additionally, it improves the visual appeal of the movie for the audience, which increases their engagement with your media offering. My group and I approached the storytelling of editing by adding a title card that fits the tone, and Christine's character. Visual editing is editing that changes the visual aspect of our film such as transitions, coloring, and captions. They enhance storytelling and create more audience engagement.

Production: Bloopers 2

I'm sure there will be bloopers every filming day. That's okay though because it shows the lighthearted parts of filming serious scenes and that mistakes are very common and normal. Day 2 went a lot smoother, but we still have some bloopers to show.

Production: Day 2 Filming Behind the Scenes

Day two was a lot better than day one, as we got a lot more done. We were able to film half of the film in a short amount of time. This made up for the little progress we made on day 1. We filmed the hallway scene and the bathroom scene. Day two got me more excited to see how the film will turn out once we put all the scenes together.
